Peretz works in a tradition of naive painting. He paints mixed daily scenes and fantasies, creating a Middle Eastern idyll. Unlike other naïve artists, whose works often describe a wild environment in nature, he focuses his utopian journey to Israel as a defined and identifiable place where the "natural" and the urban are one essence. The meticulous repetition of rhythmic repetitions and rhythms towards the horizon provides the paintings with a clear direction of motion, a kind of extraordinary look. The unique style enables him to build compositions full of details, which convey optimism and hope. In the exhibition at the International Convention Center, Binyanei Ha'uma, there are 11 giant prints, of which 3 are tribute to the founding generation of the country's artists, who, according to Peretz, are the basis for the naive Israeli painting: Nahum Gutman, Yohanan Simon and Reuven Rubin. Peretz began to paint in the naive style of his work with young children. Throughout his years in the field, he has written and illustrated in his notebooks and diaries images from the world of childhood. This experience intensified his love for the color and simplicity of the childish expression. Curator: Eran Litvin
